Family Fun

Sheesh! I haven't been here in a while it seems! As usual, life has really taken me through the ringer! This month definitely has been a trying one.  Between the move from the ghetto into the 'suburbs' *insert thumbs up*, Mother's Day and a FILLED Memorial Day weekend, let's just say I'm glad May will finally be behind me.  Looking forward to June, but before that, I must 'tell all' about May...after all, that's why I blog, right?

May started out with moving.  I had originally requested a vacation day for the end of May but my move came alot sooner and vacation day...DENIED! So, I had tons to do in a matter of two days! Yes, I really wanted to slap some people around, but I decided that I needed my J.O.B.! lol  My boss is one of those guys who probably never sleeps and is always at work.  So if he's working, everyone should be working too! He's cut throat and has a sense of humor that cracks me up.  Therefore, I enjoy working with him! (not just saying that, either....where else can you make 4.50 an hour and have a blast doing it?)  Seriously, I love my job.  Anyhoo, no vacation day taken.  So, I worked quickly every day after work, and for a couple weekends straight through.  Luckily, I had some help from my boys and Gracie! "Thanks boys! Thanks Mom"! I was unbelievably organized by the third weekend in May which means I worked Mother's day weekend.  Aside from the working, I managed to sneak in a movie with my sister.  Of all freaking movies,,, 'The Lucky One' with my other future husband! What a mushy, girlie movie! Right up my alley! My sister and I both cried, laughed and fell in love with Zac Efron!
Bachelorette began on the 14th.  Not an Emily fan, but this is the only way I may ever see Bora Bora or Italy! So I watch it.  This season is about Emily and her daughter.  What???  I just want the drama and romance.  I have NO drama in my life so it seems right that I would want it from a reality TV show.  Same for the romance. 'nuff said!
As this season's Bachelorette begins, others end.  Season finales all over the place! DWTS- Donald Driver wins the mirror ball trophy.  American Idol- Phillip Phillips wins the title against Jessica Sanchez, who by the way, sings a.m.a.z.i.n.g.l.y., but I can totally do without the Beyonce style and growling. And who dressed these contestants? I mean, Jessica looked like a total hooker for a couple of her performances! She's 16! A child! Now, Phillip.....vavavavoom! Yum! Great style and vocals.  Glad he won.  There were tons of other shows but these are my favorites and Gracie's too, apparently... She records them and watches them over and over and over and over and over and...you guessed it...over again!
The next weekend (this past weekend) was the jam-packed-crazy-fun-filled weekend with the Recio's! You probably know about these peeps from previous posts or actually coming face to face with these crazies...for that...I am truly sorry! lol  just kidding...This group of family is always a good time in the making.  Friday night we celebrated my cousin, Jacob's, 40th! As you may know, Jacob is my cousin who was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of 17.  Long story short, Jacob beat cancer and turned 40 this year! Can you say, blessing????  So, I found it totally appropriate to celebrate him! My sister and I worked hard Thursday night to get everything together for his arrival Friday night.  Mom was in charge of dinner, which was DELISH! I made the cupcakes and between Krista and I we made other snacks and completed the simple, yet, fun decorations. Our colors were blue and green, aka, blue and green.  This is what the final get together looked like:

Painted letters topped the birthday cupcakes
Balloons hung from the ceiling holding picture from birth to present of Jacob!
A close up of the blue cupcakes with green frosting that would eventually stain every one's mouths! lol

Candy covered pretzels. Yummy!

After dinner, we sang happy birthday to Jacob and enjoyed some cupcake deliciousness.  Every one's mouths were blue and green, respectively. Here are just a few pics I managed to capture before the napkins came around (not that they helped any!) lol:
Here is the birthday boy making his silly face,,,as you will always see him!
Munchkin looking Austin James joining in the fun and...
Silly Aunt Hilda!!!

This was our Friday night.  We all were tired but managed to stay up pretty late enjoying each other's company.  Saturday and Sunday would be filled with crafting...and I DO mean crafting! Aunt Hilda graciously volunteered me to host my other cousin, Matthew (and his wife's), upcoming All Star baby shower.  It was more like she volunteered me to 'make' all the stuff for the shower! lol wink wink!! It's gonna be a loooong weekend with this one! lol  To be continued....
