Continuation from 'Family Fun'...

Commander Recio (Aunt Hilda) is on a mission to get as much out of me as she can Saturday and possibly Sunday! She has graciously chosen ME of all the people in the world to work on stuff for the upcoming baby shower! Honestly, I gave her a good deal... just feed me as I work and we'll call it even! (I was more honored than anything...I LOVE doing stuff like this and for family??? Oh, c'mon! It's even more of an honor!)

Saturday, we hit up Hobby Lobby around 11am.  Not too bad..I figure we get back to my mom's around noonish and begin working on our list of crafties!
Here is our list of some of the things to work on:
  • 50 invitations- Do we even know 50 people? Oh, ya, we're Mexican! We have 50 people in our immediate familia!
  • Candy covered pretzels- I'll do those a couple days before the big event.
  • Paint the 'thank you' bassinet
  • Make little thank yous
  • Make corsages- I chose modern day mums!
  • Decorate a 'diaper cake'- hmmm....
Seems fairly simple, right? I can get all this done in ONE day.  No problem...but there was a problem! We didn't leave Hobby Lobby until about 1:30ish! Oh, ya... we went in not knowing what we needed for every thing we had planned...NOTE TO SELF: go prepared.  Not only did I NOT have an idea of what I wanted to do for the invites, I had to think of everything else, i.e.; paint, cutters, stickers, glue, paper, ribbon, note cards, pens, sharpies, paper cutters, glue gun (oh, we should never forget the heavenly glue gun!), glue sticks, ribbon, and more ribbon! Did I forget anything? I don't think so....

"I got this!"
After dealing with the commander's nonsense in HL about how the music reminds her of Abe Lincoln (what?? weird), the commander not understanding my ideas as she stares directly into my eyes and says, "yes, uh...huh..." (which translates to "yes, uh..I have no idea what the hell you're talking about!), and spending my car payment, rent, light bill and cable bill at the register, I was ready to head to mom's to get started.  But not before we make a stop, wait...did we go anywhere else? I can't remember...it's all a blur.  We get to my mom's, unload, unpack our HL bags, plug in the gg (glue gun) and I begin with the invitations.  Only, the original idea I had wasn't looking too good to me.  Commander has this brilliant idea (really was) of cutting round circles and making them into baseballs.  Ok, no problemo.  "We'll just trace them and cut them out" she says.  Very easy, except my OCD and perfectionism (is that even a word?) wouldn't let Commander's cutting skills make it passed round one.  Her circles looked like beans and ovals! No, no, no...just couldn't have this.  So, guess where I ended up? Hobby Lobby  looking for a circular hole puncher that needed to be roughly the size of a friggin' orange! Do they even make them? Why, yes, they do.  There went my electric bill. lol  Ok, ok, I got 40 percent off...it was only 16.00. "Stop crying Anna"!
While I was gone picking up a couple things, C.R. was busy at work fryin' up some yummy pot stickers and edamames! I gobbled down a few pot stickers and a few beans. There was no time to eat.  The time now was 4pm and I hadn't even started on the 50 invites! I had some great help and we quickly formed an assembly line! Jacob punched out all the baseball circles, Aunt Hilda cut the strips of ric rac for the 'stitching', Uncle Robert (yes, Uncle Robert) cut out a few bats before turning the torch over to Austin, who somehow managed to make canoe oars rather than baseballs lol, and I was busy putting it all together.  Jacob also stamped the wording inside the invites- another big help. Before we knew it, I was burned out on making so many invitations.  I had my sister come in and take over for a bit while I worked on the diaper cake.  It was 11:00 pm before we called it quits for the night.  We got the 50 invites done, the basket was painted (thank you Uncle Robert), ribbon glued on, bows for the thank yous were done and C.R. glued them onto the Cracker Jack boxes and we could finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I quickly packed up the boys and split! I was sooo tired but so excited that we accomplished so much without my OCD/perfectionism taking over.  Yay!
Sunday came all too fast.  I knew there were still some things we needed to finish so we head over to my mom's about one-ish.  I needed to work on the mums, except we didn't have the stuff.  HL is closed on Sunday's for worship (love that!) and I was in desperate need to buy the stuff. We could've bought the stuff the day before, but it wasn't on my Aunt's unorganized list of things...hmmm...

Michael's, here we come.  I won't even go into detail about our trip to Michael's.  I'll just say this: we got back, the assembly line helped with the project of 4 mums and we were done in time for the 3rd quarter of the Spurs game! GO SPURS GO! Anyway, we rested on Memorial Day as much as possible.  Totally needed it.  The nontraditional baby shower will be held June 9th in good 'ol Kingsville, Texas! All Star baby theme is turning out pretty awesome, if I should say so myself.  I'll get more pics up as soon as I can after the shower.  In the mean time, here are some pics of the crafts made:

CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE ALL THE DETAILS AND THE DECORATIONS! SHOULD BE REALLY CUTE!
